1. Make sure youve got the right client for the service.
While the Beach Wave is extremely gentle, it is a chemical
service. The hair must be in good condition. The Beach Wave should not
be performed over hair that has been bleached, or has
undergone thio-based or sodium hydroxide-based
texturizing services
2. In this case, tension is a good thing
Make sure to apply tension to the hair as you roll the wave
blocks to the scalp. This will ensure adequate undulation, even on
longer hair types. If hair is rolled without tension the wave will not
be strong enough to support the wave against the weight of the hair.
3. Take care of loose ends
In most cases with the Beach Wave there is no need to use end
papers. However, if the hair is layered to a point where it is difficult
to get the hair uniformly into the slit in the wave blocks, its
important to use end wrap papers to make sure the hair positioned
properly in the Wave Block.
4. Curve first, color later
Make sure to perform the Beach Wave service prior to any color
service. This will ensure the vibrancy of the color. While you can
perform Silk Degrees or no-lift demi-color services the same day, its
always best to wait a couple of days after the Beach Wave service to
perform most color services.
5. Timing is everything
Make sure to start your timing as soon as you apply the Beach
Wave waving lotion. Check your wave patterns in accordance with the
instructions for the particular hair type you are working with. Pay
strict attention to the timing of your processing and rinsing
procedures.
